Around the corner from the popular Cookman Avenue in Asbury Park, NJ in an old German beer hall sits the Asbury Festhalle & Biergarten. Decorated with communal tables, the location offers 31 premium draft beers, 60+ bottles of various brands, and an array of classic German eats.
The highlight of the place for me was it’s beautiful roof top bar. While the full menu is only featured on the first floor, you can still partake in drinks, a brat or a large Bavarian brezel (pretzel).
After having drinks on the roof, we went downstairs to sample the German faire.
I order the chicken brat which came with sauerkraut, a slice of rye bread, 2 types of mustard and a tasty German potato salad.
My friend ordered the classic brat which came with the same sides:
Both types of brats were very juicy and tender. The bread was fresh and as I stated above, the potato salad was very good. This place made me step out of my comfort zone in terms of food. I really enjoyed it.
